Navigating the Lightning Path
There is a massive amount of content available on The Lightning Path. In order to bring some semblance of organization to this content, the LP has been broken up into several websites (quick list). All the main LP sites have the same basic visual and menu design and once you get to know the system you will have no trouble finding your way around. In order to help you on your way, here’s a basic description of the LP’s navigational features. Some LP sites carry a different design (The SpiritWiki for example) but many look visually similar. To identify quickly which site you are on, simply look at the LP Title graphic with dove. It will tell you what site you are on.
In addition to the title graphic, there are three basic menu areas that you need to be aware of. There is a main menu, a navigation menu and a recent content menu. The main menu sits at the top of the page underneath the title graphic. The navigation menu is available on the right sidebar.
The main menu lists site specific content. Each site will have a different main menu that allows you to access the materials available. Whenever you visit an LP site for the first time, take a moment to look at the main menu to see what is available on the site.
The navigation menu contains three tabs, keys, links, and an info tab. The keys menu is dynamic and changes whether you are logged in, subscribed, studying in the mentor program, and so on. In order to access all materials you have access to, be sure to log in whenever you visit LP sites. The keys menu includes links that are important for your level of study as well as quick links to recent books drafts and book downloads (visible only to subscribers). There is also a status bar that lets you know your access level and a quick link to subscribe to the LP Newsletter.
The Navigation Menu is basically a short cut menu. Clicking on the Links Tab of the Navigation Menu will bring you to a compact list of important LP links. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with this menu since it provides a quick way for you to get to almost all important LP material. Pay particular attention to the curriculum site heading. Notice the links there? They take you quickly to all books, meditations, dialogues, parables, and poetry of the Lightning Path.
The final LP menu you need to be aware of is the Recent LP Content menu. This menu contains three tabs that will help keep you informed of new LP content as it becomes available. The Bulletin tab provides short LP announcements on new materials, server issues, happenings, and so on. The Posts menu provides a list of all recently posted articles taken from all LP sites. The SpiritWiki tab lets you check on recent changes and additions to The SpiritWiki. Taken together these three tabs provide a comprehensive window into the development and evolution of Lightning Path teachings. As a final note, the Recent LP Content tab in the forums contains an additional Forums tab that lists recent forum posts. Use that to quickly get an overview of new forum content since your last visit.
And that’s it for your navigational tutorial. There is a lot of information on the Lightning Path, but it is well layed out. Taking a few moments to familiarize yourself with the LP menuing system will help you get the most out of your LP explorations.
