Quick start guide

Greetings and welcome to the Lightning Path.

One of the first things you’ll probably get as you take a look and consider The Lightning Path is the scope. The Truth is, there is a lot of information available on this (and other) LP website(s). As I say on the LP Introductory website, The Lightning Path aspires to be a complete and original spiritual system that is powerful, effective, and fast.  That’s a big job, a big claim, and it can’t be done in a book or two, or even twelve. It has to be done in layers, and with interconnections, and with lots, and lots, and lots of discussion and explanation. It can be overwhelming to be sure but if you are interested in having a look, you can start by subscribing to the LP introductory email lessons. These lessons are sent once a week for six weeks. They provide a gentle introduction to the scope and ambitions of The Lightning Path and are a great way to keep your attention focused on the task at hand (i.e. awakening and empowerment).  Don’t worry, I won’t spam you. You will get only the emails that you signed up for and you will always be able to cancel whenever you wish. That said, if you are anxious to step onto the path and get going as quick as possible, a complete archive of the email lessons is provided as a PDF booklet. Simply click this link (or the link at the bottom of this page) to download.

Now, in addition to providing you with a gentle introduction to the purpose and scope of The Lightning Path, I also provide a graded system of organization that allows you to carefully build your knowledge and spiritual expertise, from basic to advanced, without being overwhelmed by the material.  That is, I have organized all LP materials into a “graded” (but non-hierarchical and non-judgmental) system of awakening and empowerment that introduces you to concepts at appropriate moments, and moves you from basic through intermediate and advanced levels in an easy and straightforward fashion.

It’s kinda like taking piano lessons.

You start in Grade One where you learn the basics, and you get better and better as you learn, practice and (eventually), teach yourself. Eventually you understand the complex music and can play all the difficult parts!

It is the same here.

Just start at the beginning, learn the basics, and get better as you learn and practice.

And just where is the beginning?

Well, have a look at the menu above you.

You are currently reading the Quick Start Guide. This quick start guide includes two articles:

Read both those short articles, read over the introductory emails (either in one week bursts, or all at one time in the archive below), an then move on to the LP Core level of study. Follow the directions in the LP Core Study Guide, read the books, practice the technique, ask questions on the forums if you don’t understand something and then move on to the LP Intermediate Level of study when you feel you have met the criteria for graduation set out in the this “when to move on” page.

And that is all there is to it. Familiarize yourself with the LP, follow along with the provided study guides, and you will make steady progress in your effort to spiritually awaken and empower.

Now, before turning you loose on the materials I have just have three things to say.

  1. This is not race so go at your own speed. You will get no gold stars for being “better” than those around you nor will we make you feel bad for being “slow” or needing extra time. If you’re looking for somebody to massage your ego, or if your self esteem is wrapped up in the minimization of another, you’re not ready for this.
  2. This is a graded system, so if you explore something, or find something, or jump ahead to something, that you don’t understand, don’t sweat it. Pause, consider, go back to the beginning, or ask some questions on the LP forums. Chances are very good that if your not understanding something it is simply because you skipped over something important at a previous level. Figure out what that is and you’ll be on your merry way once again.
  3. This is non-hierarchical and non-judgmental. Move forward, back, sideways, as you see fit. If you’re not sure where you should be, what you need to be learning, or what books or resources you should be pursing, ask. You can ask on the support forums, ask an LP Mentor, or ask me, Michael Sharp.

And that is all there is to it. As a final note, keep in mind this is a big endeavor you are seeking to undertake so cut yourself some slack and give yourself some time. None of this has to be accomplished in a day, a week, or even a year. Put the amount of effort and time into it that you are comfortable with (i.e. that your family and job allows) and go at your own pace.  I know some of you may not feel like it at this point but when it comes right down to it, you are the best judge of where you should be, and how you should get there.  Learning how to understand who you truly are, and how to trust in your own amazing power and ability, is what the Lightning Path is all about.
